I needed $1,800 for a transmission and had two days before the shop closed for the week. Three offers came back the same afternoon and the spread between them was wide enough that comparing actually mattered. Took the shortest term rather than the smallest payment, which the site kept nudging me toward, and I am glad I did.
Where These Ratings Come From
The figures on this page are aggregate feedback submitted by people who completed a Kapitus funding request through Kapitus. 1,850 people have submitted a star rating and 20 have left a written comment, producing an average of 4.9 out of five. Every written comment on this page is reproduced from that feedback. Names are shortened to a surname initial and locations are given by city and state.
Two things we do not do. We do not publish invented testimonials, and we do not filter out critical feedback. You will find a three-star review on this page from someone who received a single high-priced offer and declined it. That is a legitimate outcome of using this service and hiding it would make the rest of the page worthless.
What ratings on a comparison service can and cannot tell you is worth being precise about. They reflect the experience of submitting a Kapitus funding request and receiving offers — speed, clarity, absence of pressure, whether the process worked as described. They cannot tell you what rate you will be offered, because that is set by the Kapitus lending partner underwriting your file, not by us.
The Full Distribution
Average ratings hide more than they reveal. The distribution below shows how the 1,850 ratings actually break down.
| Rating | Ratings | Share |
|---|---|---|
| ★★★★★ | 1,684 | 91.0% |
| ★★★★☆ | 148 | 8.0% |
| ★★★☆☆ | 13 | 0.7% |
| ★★☆☆☆ | 4 | 0.2% |
| ★☆☆☆☆ | 1 | 0.1% |
The pattern is typical of a service where the process either works or it does not. Most people who receive offers and find the comparison useful rate it highly. The small tail at the lower end is almost entirely people who received no offers or only one expensive one — which is a real experience and one we would rather represent than suppress.

What I appreciated most was that the amount I asked for was the amount that was discussed. No one tried to talk me into taking more. I have had that experience elsewhere and it is exhausting.
Self-employed, which usually means a lot of explaining. I uploaded twelve months of bank statements and a tax return and it went through without a fight. The partner I ended up with asked sensible questions rather than treating irregular income as suspicious.
Straightforward process and a fair rate for my credit. Marking it four rather than five because the funding took four business days rather than the one to three mentioned, though the bank was part of that. No complaints about the service itself.
Used it to clear two store cards that were both above twenty-eight percent. The total repaid on the loan was hundreds less than what I was on track for. Cut the cards up afterwards, which the site told me not to do — I kept the accounts open like it said, just not accessible.
The calculator on this site was the useful part for me. I ran a few terms before submitting anything and worked out I could handle a twelve-month schedule rather than the twenty-four I had assumed. Saved a meaningful amount of interest for the sake of ten minutes.
Emergency dental work, no dental cover worth mentioning. The page about medical costs told me to ask for an itemised bill and a payment plan first. The practice knocked a chunk off and I only needed to borrow about half what I expected. Odd advice for a loan site to give but I am grateful.
Second time using it, two years apart. Both times the process was the same and both times I got offers within hours. The rate was better this time, which I assume reflects the first loan being paid off cleanly.
I have a thin credit file — twenty-four, first real loan. Two Kapitus Funding partners still made offers. Neither was cheap, but they were honest about why, and the disclosure explained everything before I signed. Paying on time now and watching the score move.
Furnace died in February. Not the month you want to be arranging finance. Requested in the morning, had offers by lunchtime, money in the account two days later. The installer was paid before the weekend.
Good experience overall. The one thing I would flag is the volume of calls from Kapitus Funding partners after submitting. It is explained on the site and it is how the offers arrive, but be ready for your phone to be busy for a day.
Consolidated four balances into one payment. What made the difference was the checklist about getting payoff quotes rather than statement balances — I would have come up short on one account otherwise and left it open accruing interest.
Moving between states with a deposit and first month due before my last paycheque cleared. Requested $2,200, took the twelve-month term. Paid it off in nine because there was no prepayment charge, which I checked beforehand because this site told me to.
Everything was explained in English and the numbers were laid out clearly. I compared the total repaid rather than the monthly payment like the site suggests and picked a different offer than I would have otherwise.
Honestly went in expecting the usual runaround and did not get it. No fee to submit, no pressure, and when I did not answer a partner's call for a day nobody hounded me. Ended up taking the second offer rather than the first.
The service did what it says. My issue is that only one partner made an offer and the rate was high — I understand that reflects my credit rather than the site. Useful to know where I stand, but I did not take it in the end. No cost either way, which I appreciated.
Borrowed $900 to replace a laptop after mine died mid-semester. Small amount, short term, done in six months. The advice about matching the term to how long the thing will last stuck with me.
Straight-talking site. The page on my loan type actually listed reasons not to borrow, which is not what I expected to read. Made me trust the rest of it more.
Holiday travel for a family funeral, needed it quickly and could not think straight. The form was short enough to get through in that state of mind and the money arrived in time for the flights.
Solid. Offers were competitive and the comparison was easy. Four stars because I would like to see the estimated funding time shown on each offer rather than having to ask the partner.
What the Feedback Actually Says
Reading 20 written comments alongside the ratings, four themes recur often enough to be worth naming.
Speed matters more than people expect. A large share of requests are driven by something that has already broken — a vehicle, an appliance, a tooth. In those situations the difference between offers arriving the same afternoon and arriving in three days is the difference between a problem solved and a problem compounding. Comments mentioning speed are consistently positive and consistently urgent in tone.
Absence of pressure is noticed. Several comments specifically mention not being pushed toward a larger amount than requested. That this registers as remarkable says something uncomfortable about the wider industry, and it is a standard we hold Kapitus partners to.
The editorial content changes decisions. Multiple borrowers describe choosing a shorter term after reading the cost comparisons, or reducing their request after negotiating a bill down first. One reviewer notes it is odd for a lending site to tell people to borrow less. It is deliberate, and this feedback is the reason it stays.
Partner contact volume is the main friction. The most common criticism is the number of calls in the first day after submitting. That is the mechanism by which offers are delivered, but knowing it in advance clearly helps, so we now say it plainly on the apply page.
How to Read Reviews of Any Financial Service
This applies to us as much as to anyone else, and it is worth internalising before you trust a star rating anywhere.
- Look for the negative reviews first. A page with no criticism at all has been curated. What matters is whether the complaints are about the service failing or about outcomes the service does not control.
- Check whether reviewers describe specifics. Genuine feedback mentions amounts, timings, and particular frictions. Fabricated feedback is enthusiastic and vague.
- Separate the service from the lender. Complaints about a rate offered by a Kapitus Funding lending partner are not complaints about the comparison service, and vice versa. Both matter, but they are different things.
- Ignore volume as a proxy for quality. A large number of ratings tells you a service is widely used, not that it is good. The distribution and the content of the criticism tell you far more.
- Check third-party sources too. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau maintains a public consumer complaint database covering financial companies, and it is searchable by name.
Reviews About Servicing Belong With the Lender
A recurring source of confusion in this industry is that borrowers leave reviews about their loan servicing on the website of the comparison service that introduced them. It is an understandable mistake and it produces misleading ratings in both directions.
Once you sign an agreement, the Kapitus lending partner owns the relationship entirely. Statements, due dates, payment processing, payoff quotes, hardship arrangements and credit reporting are all theirs. Kapitus servicing questions are not something we can answer, because we have no access to your loan account and no ability to change your terms. If your experience of repayment has been good or bad, the review that helps other borrowers is the one left with the company actually doing the servicing.
What we can help with is working out who holds your loan and what to ask them. Our contact page sets out which questions belong where, and we would rather redirect you correctly than leave you emailing the wrong company for a fortnight.
If Something Goes Wrong
Borrowers have specific, enforceable rights in the United States, and knowing the escalation path is more useful than any review page.
- Contact the Kapitus lending partner in writing. Phone calls leave no record. Email or a letter creates one, and written complaints are handled differently by most compliance departments.
- Escalate to the state regulator. Your state banking or financial regulation department licenses consumer lenders and accepts complaints about licensees.
- File with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The federal complaint process requires companies to respond, and complaints are published in the public database.
- Contact your state attorney general where the conduct appears deceptive rather than merely disappointing.
If the issue concerns Kapitus itself rather than a Kapitus lending partner — the request form, our editorial content, or how your enquiry was handled — email us directly and we will respond. Feedback that identifies a specific failure is more useful to us than a star rating.
What a Rating on This Page Can and Cannot Tell You
Ratings collected by Kapitus measure one thing: what it was like to submit a Kapitus funding request and receive offers. Speed, clarity, whether anyone applied pressure, whether the process matched the description. Those are the parts Kapitus is responsible for, and feedback on them is actionable.
Kapitus reviews cannot tell you what rate you will be quoted, because pricing comes from the Kapitus Funding lending partner underwriting your file rather than from this service. They also cannot tell you what repayment was like, since the partner services the loan and Kapitus has no visibility into it at all.
The three-star review published above came from someone who received a single expensive offer and declined it. That is a genuine outcome of using Kapitus, it cost the reviewer nothing, and removing it would make every other rating on the page less worth reading.
Feedback published here is collected by Kapitus Funding after a Kapitus funding request, which is the only part of the process Kapitus controls. Kapitus reviews describing repayment belong with the Kapitus lending partner that serviced the loan, and leaving one there helps other borrowers more than leaving it here would. Kapitus publishes every comment received, including the ones that reflect badly on it.
