We Are Not a Lender

Kapitus is an advertising and referral service. We are not a lender, bank, credit union or loan broker, we do not make credit decisions, and we do not fund, service or hold loans. Submitting a request does not guarantee that any lending partner will extend an offer.

How We Are Compensated

Participating lending Kapitus partners may compensate Kapitus when a Kapitus Funding funding request is transmitted to them or when a loan is funded. This compensation may influence which partners appear on this site and the order in which they are presented. It does not affect the rate, terms or amount any partner offers you, which are determined solely by that partner's underwriting of your application.

We do not charge borrowers any fee at any stage.

Loan Terms Are Set by the Partner

Loan amounts, annual percentage rates, repayment terms, fees and funding times are set by the lending partner that approves your Kapitus funding request. They vary with your credit profile, income, existing obligations, state of residence and that partner's own criteria. Not all applicants qualify, and the largest advertised amount is not available to everyone.

Illustrative Figures

Rate and payment examples on this site are illustrative and are provided to demonstrate how cost is calculated. They are not offers, quotations or predictions of what you will receive. Your actual terms will appear on the disclosure provided by the lending partner before you sign.

State Availability

Products and availability differ by state. Some states restrict or prohibit certain consumer loan products, and lending partners are licensed in particular states only. The offers available to you depend in part on where you live.

Credit Reporting

Submitting a Kapitus Funding funding request does not itself place a hard inquiry on your credit reports. Lending partners typically begin with a soft inquiry. A partner you choose to proceed with will normally perform a hard inquiry before final approval, which may affect your credit score. Late or missed payments may result in additional charges and may be reported to consumer reporting agencies.

Appropriate Use of Credit

Short-term borrowing is intended for temporary needs and is not a solution for long-term financial difficulty. Review every agreement in full — including the annual percentage rate, finance charge, total of payments, prepayment terms and late fee schedule — before signing. If you are struggling with debt, free assistance is available from nonprofit credit counselling agencies.

No Advice

Nothing on this website constitutes legal, tax or financial advice. Content is general information and does not account for your individual circumstances.

What "Not All Applicants Qualify" Means

Advertising in consumer lending frequently shows the best available rate and the largest available amount. Both are real and both are available to a minority of applicants — typically those with the strongest credit profiles, the most stable documented income and the lowest existing obligations.

Your offer will reflect your file. It may be at a higher rate, for a smaller amount, over a different term, or it may not come at all. None of that is a fault in the process; it is underwriting functioning as intended. What we can commit to is not presenting the best available case as though it were typical.

Third-Party Contact After Submitting

Submitting a Kapitus funding request means your information is transmitted to participating lending partners for evaluation. Those partners will contact you to deliver offers, by telephone, text or email. You may receive contact from several within the first day.

Each partner handles your information under its own privacy policy from that point. If you wish to stop contact from a particular partner, tell that partner directly. If someone contacts you using our name and asks for an upfront payment, that is not us and it is not a legitimate lender — report it to us and to the Federal Trade Commission.

Editorial Independence From Compensation

Because compensation may influence which partners appear and in what order, we hold our editorial content to a separate standard. Guidance pages state when borrowing is the wrong answer. Our alternatives page profiles ten lenders who pay us nothing and carries no outbound buttons at all. Free routes — nonprofit counselling, hardship programmes, provider payment plans, community assistance — are named throughout, including where naming them costs us a referral.

We publish this because a disclosure that only appears in small type at the bottom of a page is not really a disclosure. If the way we are paid concerns you, the alternatives page and the responsible lending page are the two documents that show what we do about it.

Why This Is a Page Rather Than a Footnote

Compensation disclosures in this industry are usually a sentence in grey type below the fold. Kapitus Funding publishes one in the footer of every page and this full page besides, because a disclosure nobody reads performs no function at all.

The substance is short. Lending partners pay Kapitus when a Kapitus funding request is transmitted or funded. That payment may affect which partners appear and in what order. It cannot affect what any partner offers you, because pricing comes from underwriting your file.

The rest of this page exists so that a borrower can check the claim rather than accept it — against the alternatives page, the responsible lending page, and the rate examples used throughout.
